Start your morning slow, brew a cup of our local coffee provided for you in your kitchen and enjoy the cool mountain air from your porch. For breakfast, head into downtown Blowing Rock and grab a bite at Social on Main or Famous Toastery to fuel your day!
🍇11:00 AM – First Stop: Grandfather Vineyard & Winery
📍Banner Elk, NC – 25 minutes from The Getaway
Tucked along the Watauga River, Grandfather Vineyard offers terraced vines, creekside seating, and breathtaking views of Grandfather Mountain. Their family-run charm and wide selection of wines and flights makes this a perfect first stop. They are family and pet friendly and offer live music!
Try This: Mimosa Flight or popular Appalachian Red
Why Go Early: It is peaceful in the late morning and gives for a greater opportunity to chat personally with a winemaker or family member behind the operation.
🍷1:00 PM – Lunch & Wine at Banner Elk Winery
📍Banner Elk, NC – 15 minutes from Grandfather Vineyard
Just a few minutes away nestled among rolling hills and blueberry fields there is Banner Elk Winery. Known for their bold reds and blueberry wine, this winery is perfect for a packed picnic or a bite grab in town (Banner Elk Café and Sorrentos Bistro are our nearby favorites)!
Signature Sips: Blueberry Wine (A local favorite) or their Reserve Merlot
Bonus: Their Adirondack chairs and duck pond make for the perfect wine-and-dine place!
🌲3:30 PM – Final Tasting: Linville Falls Winery
📍Linville, NC - 30 Minutes from Banner Elk Winery
This scenic vineyard is surrounded by Christmas tree farms and mountain ridges. Linville Falls Winery is family-run and known for their welcoming staff, rustic tasting room, and stunning views!
What to Sip: Petit Verdot or their seasonal mulled wine (in cooler months)
Don’t Miss: A short vineyard walk or photos under the pergola covered patio.
🍫6:00 PM – Optional Wind-Down in Boone – Venture
📍Boone, NC – 30 minutes from Linville Falls
Not ready to head back just yet? Swing through downtown Boone to get a taste of delicate chocolates hand-made from professional chocolatiers and pair it with a fine wine of your choice! Can also order a nice snack or stop by other nearby restaurants for a final meal before heading home!

Check winery hours ahead of time – most close around 6:00 PM.
